Pasteis de nata (flaky tarts filled with egg custard) are one of Portugal’s most beloved sweet treats, and this private, hands-on cooking class will teach you how to master them. Make your own way to the cooking facilities, and grab an apron. With a pastry-chef guide’s one-on-one instruction, you’ll learn every part of the tart-making process, from rolling out the dough to perfecting the custard. Then, enjoy your freshly baked tarts alongside port wine.Itinerary:
Pastel de Nata, also known as the Portuguese custard tarts, has become a worldwide famous symbol of Portuguese cuisine and is in fact an old cultural heritage originating back to the 17th century offering delight to the royal court and high society. Today, thanks to an atelier store located in a charming historical building in the heart of Chiado, you are offered the opportunity to learn, bake and enjoy the famous Pastel De Nata.
All equipment will be supplied, from raw ingredients, aprons to utensils and equipment. You will be accompanied by a professional pastry chefs who will guide you in your creation of the perfect tart. Expect a fun experience of 1.5 hour, where you will be cooking pastels which you will then eat with a glass of Porto Wine, in a cool and cozy environment. The full cooking experience will be held both in English and Portuguese. (Other languages possible upon request)
