Your host:
“I own a small chocolate shop that only works with single origin small chocolate makers from the Netherlands and abroad. All brands guarantee to be slave-free, many hand made, home made, vegan and even sugar free. I am a local shop owner who is involved in cultural and social projects in the neighborhood.
When you book my tasting, you book more than a chocolate tasting only. I tell all about the history of the neighborhood, the connection between Amsterdam and cacao, and the stories of the people behind the chocolates. A bar of single origin chocolate from the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil has a unique taste, as well as our single origin bars from the island of Grenada, Papua, Congo, Vietnam, etc. Make a small journey around the world with me! In my workspace next to the shop I make chocolates every day. I’d love to let you taste many of my chocolates! I make chocolates with different spices, like clove, black pepper, cardemom and chili. But also work with fruit and nuts like the exotic Kenari nut. Besides the unique taste that single origin chocolate has, it is also ‘super fair trade’. Since the beans come from one plantation only, it is extremely traceable. Usually there are not more than 1-3 persons between the cacao farmers and us. Of course I have glasses of water ready for you to take in between all the chocolate tasting and would like to give you something to take back home!”
